help my apple tree!
in Talkback
Help! I accidently sprayed weedkiller instead of bug killer all over my apple tree! (7 feet). I'm a new gardener and am distraught. I have washed it off with a couple of bucketloads of water, will it be too late? Will my tree die? Any suggestions or expertise please.

I think you will have to wait and see. Sorry.
I accidentally sprayed weedkiller on one of my raspberry plants a few weeks back and immediately washed it down with lots of water. It seems to have survived the experience with no ill effects so hopefully you rinsed the weedkiller off the tree in time and it will be ok.
Oh wow, that is some hope to cling to. Was it a little accidental spray, or a massive mistaken spray like mine? Thanks SG
I mistook it for a bramble shoot so it was a deliberate all-over spray but I did realise my mistake immediately and ran down the garden to get the watering can and rinse it off.
How long was it on the tree?

If it wasn't a systemic spray such as glyphosate you'll probably be okay.
on for abougt 5 mins, though it was roundup and does say fast acting....thanks for your help...i feel so depressed!
Try not to be too depressed Glenn - we all make mistakes - !'ve made some corkers - as long as you don't make the same mistake twice!!!
We'll keep our fingers crossed for you

Glenn - it was roundup that I used as well and it also says that rain within 6 hours will reduce effectiveness so you may still be ok.
Thanks everyone....
