Ants on strawberries

in Fruit & veg
Hey all started growing strawberry this year they have just started to grow and are very small and green but i have just noticed now that there are ants crawling on them. Does anyone know if the ants will eat the strawberries and if so will they totally destroy the plant. Don't know what species they are all i know is they are tiny and dark brownish black. Any advice much appreciated.

Ants like sugary things though I doubt that the fruit is ripe yet-they will not eat your strawberries but might be interested in a damaged one-honestly you are worrying about nothing-you have ants in your garden that is all- probably along with lots of other things.
I agree with sotongeoff - the ants may even help to pollinate the flowers. Do check for aphids though, as the ants may be a sign there are aphids present (ants feed on the sugary liquid which aphids produce.)
Thanks guys much appreciated.
