Pear tree losing fruit.

Any ideas on how I can prevent this? My neighbour has two pear trees of a similar age, and they have no problems and lots of fruit. I have never sprayed the tree with anything as I am a bit of a novice when it comes to fruit trees.

    This sounds like pear midge. We used to get this in our previous garden and always sprayed the tree before the buds broke in spring which was very effective. There is some information below.

    Or it could be frost damage; I can't see where in the UK you are, but I think I have either a bit of frost damage this year or the wind has simply blown the small pears off here.image

    Thanks for the prompt replies. I think from the photos it is most likely to be the pear midge that's causing the problems. I will have to wait until next year to see if this theory is right.
