I have broken the growing shoot on a couple of runner beans. Will this stop the runner bean from climbing and producing beans, or will it grow a new shoot?
As long as the damage is above the first pair of leaves it'll grow more shoots from the leaf joints. Many people do this deliberately to make the plants bushier. So no need to fret!
If you've managed to break it off below that, it's not too late to sow again,

Thanks for your reply Steve. The break is above the first leaf joint, so hopefully I'll get plenty of beans!!
