Sugs and snails

I have used Nematodse. slug pellets and two other products and have seen no sighting of either insect, but I have lost all my pea plants, my dozen cabbage and the growth on my potatoes. What animal could be eating them. I am ready to re=plant and do not want the same again. I only have a small vegetable plot as I am a 70 year old pensioner, and it is very upsetting. It has not happened previous years. I live in the far southwest of Cornwall. Any ideas would extremely appreciated. Regards, David.

    Hi David image

That sounds really annoying!  Just thinking off the top of my head at the moment - plenty of wildlife down there in Cornwall (we holiday down there regularly).  Are there any deer in your area?  Have you looked for footprints/tracks?

Over what period of time have these losses occurred?

..I know mice eat pea plants...I lost all my peas to them once...lots of creatures might be doing the others...caterpillars...?   this mild winter just gone...brought them all out...

Obviously i didn't pinch out my sweet-peas enough when i planted them out two days ago, but not to worry, those considerate rabbits cut them back to the ground for me the next day..You gotta love em they are certainly on the ball, don't miss a trick..

Half of the chilli plants in my greenhouse were decapitated last night. In one case the top bit was just left lying a couple of feet from the plant. I think it must be voles as I know there is one living in a hole nearby. Have put traps down now so hope they prefer peanut butter to chilli plants....
