obelixx - thanks for your suggestions. I have geranium macrorhizum - though I couldn't tell you which one (it's pink). Have about three or four geraniums but not Kashmir which sounds good. Epimediums sound good too they were on a to get list some time ago - then I forgot! The ground elder is a no go as I am busy enough removing the flowers of alchemilla mollis. Thanks again.
ambodach - sorry didn't see you today as apparently you had just gone away from the stand. However there were lovely plants on there and congratulations on the gold medal.
Sorry I wasn't around. There were plants of Cornus Canadensis in the display - did you manage to get any information from one of the knowledgeable people there on growing it ?
Hi Rob - I only managed a quick word as there were hordes of people waiting for attention. It was so busy. I'm near Livingston. Our dog is coming to Kirknewton on her holidays
Seeing obelixx's mention of G. macrorrhizum reminds me that there is a white one. Not as strong growing as the various pinks but looking very good in my garden now.
C canadensis would never cope here, dry, alkaline and a howling gale
Thanks nut I will look it up . White would look nice on my bare patch. From the comments the others have made I don't think canadensis would survive here either with me looking after it
