I love Hebes, Rakiensis (?spelling?) is a good one too. My pittosporum tobira finally successfully flowered this year, just before we have to dig it up. I have successfully 'rounded' cistus, though some of them have had to be replaced over the five years or so I have been doing it. The white ones are the best at keeping shape and the leaves are neater. We have some lovely rosemary balls too - I wonder if that would make a good hedge if treated firmly (I know it can get woody).
