I am full of mixed emotions-miserable as sin because of constant drizzle but the occasional sunny day-happy because I don't have floods, quizzical because you cant have a months worth of rain twice in a month happy again because of the tennis, bored because of the news cliches of tennis and floods, stupid because I dont understand about the endless euro summit meetings-but other than that fine-I think
The 4 inches of rain has not materialsed here (hope I'm not tempting fate by saying so). It's warm and there's a sense of drying out a bit. I've got a greenhouse full of stuff stilll waiting to be planted out. I'm anticipating that showery weather might be a good putting-out time. Will save me having to do lots of watering. Have just planted up a container of nettles. Latest trends seen at the RHS Friday, in my garden Saturday. They don't look as nice and erect as those shown on TV, but they'll soon shape up, I hope.
I've been trendy for years....or maybe it's just that I can't get behind the chicken house to deal with the nettles that are now taller than me..not hard, as I'm a tad over 5ft 3.
Sun here today! plus quite a few black clouds though.
Net now up & running faster- wow! (actually am totally unimpressed, but dont tell OH) Mega probs in that promised engineer didnt show yesterday, nor any mail nor calls. OH not happy. Even worse this morning when call centre person kept trying to elicite information she should have had before phoning. Since on another continent & English not her first language & OH slightly deaf you can imagine the senario! Anyway, final phone call from NEast UK & bingo! Next call from engineeer saying on his way & now all sweetness & light in the house.
Daughter not impressed that I dont like asparagus- tried again, nope.
Plants all trying to recover from yesterday- millions of fallen leaves/tree seeds everywhere.
Latest slug count, all stamped on by yours truely, is 15 in as many minutes after putting down crust of wholemeal, seeded bread.
Oh BTW Geoff- JA can be invasive, but does depend on variety IME. I do wish Honorine Jobert would like me, but have abandoned all futher attempts to grow it. 3X enough I think. J.

Paining hard here now, the torch was passing a couple of miles away at 8.30 this morning I think I would have gone if it had been a sunny afternoon.
I have never had a problem with earwigs and my dahlias but I will keep an eye out.
I am trendy and already have a patch of nettles behind the compost bin.

Sunny here.......
Hello Tina
I am notoriously untrendy-but am of a certain age so am approaching grumpy old men satus-don't nettles sting?-or bees for that matter?
Tina you are lucky to have sunshine, I am not far away in Hertfordshire and the pain is very heavy.

How can you do the dance of the seven snails on slugs-I have this idea of whoosh "a over t" -and then you eat
Never rely on promises IME
Jo I need more info on the bread, does it attract them or kill them?
