Thanks for the goggle tip, Geoff. Unfortunately I don't have a red anything - perhaps cos I'm on IE and you're on Firefox. It does say Google uk in the middle of the screen but it doesn't stop a certain American-ness.

What about the cows in the super dairy farm? Has anyone thought of them? I used to have Jersey cows. They were much happier outside, they even played and frisked a bit in a stiff cow-like way, but I've seen on TV that the cows in these new super dairies never go outside or see a blade of grass. The farmers say they are content because they are placid and don't make a fuss and they make a lot of milk. What else have they got to do? A cow goes all resigned in that situation, they haven't much choice.

Don't tell me off, Geoff. Farmers made livings before super dairy farms and it's only the rich ones who can afford them anyway.

-------and good night, everyone. Hope you have a good day.

  • Good morning Pam and goodnight,Inka.

    Hope everyone is okay.

My mission today is to clean out the greenhouse. Jo has made me feel guilty. I found a dead rat in the waterbutt. I thought it was mice that dug up my tulip bulbs but I suppose rats would too.

I've got lots of packets of opened seeds so I'm going to try one or two in a heated propagator to see if they are still viable before I buy any more.

I hope Geoff's speedos are safely out of sight of the people coming to view his house.

Catch up with you all later. Enjoy your day.

    Morning forkers,

No frost here last night, but it's due.

I hope Geoff got on well with his prospective house-buyers yesterday (I didn't notice any feedback from him - good or otherwise).

On the grubbing up hedgerows controversy, I'm very pro-wildlife, and have strong views on the subject.

But can I simply quote from Jesus: Physician heal thyself. A lot of people who want to put the world right, are very often themselves guilty of the things they protest about.

Many urban gardeners who protest about farmers grubbing up hedgerows, have tidy gardens. They leave little space for wildlife. At least a farmer has a good reason - he's trying to grow food. But an urban gardener with a shaved lawn and tidy border has absolutely no excuse.

It's very difficult to change the minds of other people, but gardeners can always change themselves and their practices, if they want to.

    End of sermon (from Jesus).

Gardening telly alert - Diarmuid Gavin is on TV tonight. Sources tell me that he won't have many clothes on. I did catch a bit of this program last Saturday. (A close-up of Jenny Faulkner's backside as she climber a ladder). I guess some ladies might enjoy tonight's show.

    Morning, Pam and Dove.image

Just handing in my sicknote.image Felt a bit under the weather yesterday as I am due my injection and was grouchy all day.Still got a week to wait so may ring docs and see if I can have it a bit earlier.

Is today the day of the viewing, Geoff ? I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Fed up hearing about this weather that's supposed to be coming in. Everyone I speak to seems to have gone into panic mode. The supermarket shelves will be emptied soon. image

Oh well, back to it. Didn't do anything yesterday so catch up today.
