Just am not motivated to do anything today.

Washing back inside, now just tumbling it a bit. The breeze got up later on so not too bad after all.

I have rearranged the shelving slats in the cupboard to now give me 2 shelves & a half one right at top. Daughter had tried this morning but discovered that some of the cross battons/slats were too wide for the walls. Honestly, all those brains. image All it needed was to study the battons to work out which ones looked a wee bit shorter & then use those..... OH may glue down in place in future but no immediate need, as have a couple of bits of spare material to drape over them so the gaps between wont be a problem. At least things cant now go down the back of the tank!! 2 odd socks & a tissue box when it was removed.

Potato baking in Remoska, shall stirfy something to go with it & have already eaten my pudding- treat for today. I still have 1 treat a day, otherwise eating sensibly would just go out of the window.

We're in for another cold night here, wonder when some of the tendr stuff will stop flowering? J.

Just had bath/hair wash hospital first thing in morning as after tonight may not have time.

Muffins are boxed ready, hose is now set up, table on the verge for goodies, nearly time to party, image well, shiver in the cold. Sky is still as it has been all day completely clear of clouds. Bonfire should keep us warm I hope, at least no pain. Keep you all posted later

And the phone rang again and apparently I've won a wonderful holiday in Mexico - all I've got to do is give them my bank details ..............................image

Hello,all--woke this morning to sunshine!!!! It is still relatively warm here; down to 8* at night, so only putting my little heater under the table on first thing. Rain will return tomorrow, though, so plan to make the most of the day in the garden and move some perennials to the deer garden--monkshood, toad lilies, daisies. Also plant my potted wintergreen and hellebores in the ground.Still lots of cleanup to do.

Hi Inka , glad you've got some sun at last. Seems strange , you about to do some gardening - it's pitch black here . image

    Enjoy yourself tonight Bjay image

Dove we are both in the money ! We had another e-mail from the Nigerian royal family (didn't know they had one image ) requesting our bank details as they wanted to hide their money and that we will get a share. imageimage get better soon image

Jo. meant to ask you last time you mentioned it. Sorry for being ignorant but what is a Remoska ?

Yes, Jean-I am well west of you-sometimes if I'm up late, I can read your first posts of the day--nice to know what tomorrow will be like! I can also catch up with my Aussie friends and rellies--it's tomorrow there, too.I am also keeping a food diary--but mine is for weight loss purposes. Helps to keep busy and not think of food.

Tomorrow the interminable American election is finally over--until then it certainly limits the TV choices.

In my moments of boredom-India phoned the other day-so I asked where she was calling from which she said London-which part I asked? -Middlesex she replied-told her to go awayimage

My standard reply now to cold telephone callers is to tell them we have moved outimage

Good wishes to those standing in the cold looking at fire and whizz bangs-remember the firework codeimage

  • Cold and clear here - apparently the coldest Bonfire night for a long time! I won't be going out. Alfie has decided he has to bark every time he hears a firework. It could be a long evening....

Dove, keep warm and drink lots of clear fluids. Personally I like hot blackcurrant when I've got a lurgy.

I'm hoping to find out if taking a vitamin supplement will prevent osteoporosis. Or if just moving to a sunnier climate is the answer!

  • Hi All!

Inka! Sunshine! You lucky Devil! Make the most! Pitch black here too!

Jean......Now all the pandemonium out of the way, you shall soon reap the rewards! Had our's done a few years back, some sort of Government incentive on energy saving.....n it was free! Now there's a novelty! image

Dove.....Get well soon! Warm lemonade before bedtime was alway's one of the old dear's remidies! n always seemed to work!

Geoff.....Not an inconsistent day then I take it?

Beck's.....Yeah! a good night was had by all! The little guy's loved it! they were a little dubious last year if truth be known! But getting older n braver n more mischievous by the day!

The display was phenomenal! as alway's, but he does actually put his heart n soul into the affair! n it lasted a good hour! But earwigged the bill for the fireworks was somewhere in the region of £400! But it's his one time of year he likes to express himself, n clearly enjoys it! So if that's his thing! Then so be it!

I wonder if we'll get any big displays around here tonight? The parks' was on saturday & some were last night, but the nearest 'I'm going to do exactly as I want' type neighbour hasnt been seen around for some months, so no idea if I shall get anything to sit & enjoy from the safety of inside. Oh something now.

Jean- the Remoska is a table-top electric 'oven' sold by Lakeland. It's actually a metal container on a stand & the heating element is the circumference of the lid. About 190C/gas5 I think, & very economical with electricity. Really good for reheating the odd ready meal- quiches, tarts etc. It does a good baked potato which has a crisp skin unlike microwaved ones. I've actually started to use it as a cooker more & more- the baked pears done last week were wonderful- I just adapt normal recipes. I've got a basic recipe book for it, but as we're veggie not all applies. The only problem are that it must not be touching anything whilst on or a fire risk, plus you have to be careful not to scald yourself with lid removal or from the vent. It's one of the few small appliances that does routinely live on a worktop & get used! J.
