Apart from a shower this morning today has brightened up quite well. Tomorrow due to be nice & am due at hospital-grr! Still at least shall get the washing put out before I go & trot down to greenhouse & water in there.
Went for some retail therapy this morning -to celebrate getting the planting done you understand -& as usual the Boots & M&S vouchers arrived in post just now, at least 4hrs after I returned! Note that M&S are now imposing minimum spends nowadays, which even I cant bring myself to do!
Have finished all the planting out- well whatever the slugs & co had left me! Have culled the excess aquilegias & found the missing sedum, it's very small for some reason, but at least still there.
Our 'hog' been around again. Not impressed when nearly trod in fresh offerings as got out of car after reversing out of garage this morning.
Still no sign of the missing GC voucher though........ J.
And relax! But it probably won't be here for long so get out in it while you can.
You asked what I'm growing - you may regret this - here goes: broad beans, french beans, runner beans, peas, garlic, shallots, red onions, white onions, beetroot, potatoes, more potatoes, spinach, chard, courgettes, butternut squash, various other squash & pumpkins, cabbage, cauliflower, rhubarb, strawberries, salad leaves & mint. Tomatoes, cucumbers & mangetout at home.
The PP plot is of course perfect, not a weed in site, (unlike mine!) but they have been civil recently - perhaps they can see I'm trying! (Very trying!)
Only toms, runners & courgettes this year. Oh & some chard as well. This garden is 'slug heaven' despite the hog & thrushes, so salad stuff takes a real hammering.
The courgette in the compost bin is the happiest, but the 2 on this yrs veg plot, next to runners are fine too. The one in last yrs plot is already well munched! Beginning to think, after 2yrs without, that nemaslug is worth it after all.
Oh yes, I found a healthy alpine starwberry plant in the flower bed- must've thought it was a potentilla! Not quite ripe yet. J.
Simples, its not all ready at the same time! And I have a hungry hoarde to feed. I grew a pumpkin in the compost bin last year, it was by far the biggest.
Not had much of a problem with thieving but there is a locked gate and 6 foot fence at the entrance.
I might pop over tonight Lottie and some cultivating- am starved in tv land again tonight football on one side and another chance to see Misdsomers Murders on the other-all aternatives have no interest

Gosh Lottie, you have been busy.

Crikey Lottie how do you find the time to grow that lot, eat that lot, and space to store that lot-you must have a helluva big freezer.
Do you get any trouble with thieving on your allotment?
Hello Jo-see you have been relaxing again

Need entertaining
Jo I always find the vouchers the day after I have been to the shop.
I think a raid on Lotties larder may be needed when we are peckish.
Good news the neighbours have seen the light(or 20 green bins) and changed their bottle box for green waste.
I have been out for a very nice carvery, time for more footy.
