I've never grown a pumpkin. I don't know what they taste like. They don't really look very appetizing - just lots of pithy stuff. Looks rather like marrow.
I've heard the phrase 'pumpkin pie', but have no idea what it is. Pastry with pumpkin filling?
Or do people just buy them to carve the pretty faces.
Geoff I cannot believe that Mrs Geoff would cook horrible marrow? I think some of these foods need the correct cooking, thin slices of courgette in garlic oil are yummy but chunks boiled are horrible.
Jean, I'm the same - hate marrow, don't mind courgettes. I've had pumpkin pie once - over-rated I thought. Isn't pumpkin a bit like Butternut squash - or am I just thinking of the colour?

Gary you are missing out, roasted pumpkin is yummy as is pumpkin soup, I have never had pumpkin pie but have not had good reports.

I think that is it Gary they are just grown for decorating or for giant veg competitions -probably taste like marrow which tastes pretty horrible

Never tasted pumkin either Gary but I love watermelon. Haven't a clue if they are related.

My parents used to grow marrows a lot. They can be quite nice with pepper on them, soft and juicy, .
Am looking for a way to sample pumpkin cybernetically.
Maybe Nigellissma could knock up something devilish with a pumpkin, with chocolate, cream and spirits. (Alcoholic spirits, not the other kind).
