Winds increasing, but greenhouse roof panels still in place- good tape used! The oriental poppy taking a real bashing & petals falling all over, shame. The tall Thalictrum, must be over 5ft, by now is still fine- a hidden support low down allows it to sway but still be upright. T'other one, when a bit bigger,- was slow to start this year- will need some string to attach it to wires on the trellis post when I can next get outside.
Have made a syrup sponge pudding for tonight- who says you cant put the Magi bowl into dishwasher? Ok the plastic gets knackered eventually, but dont see OH & co washing it up by hand........... I have actually got a phone number for a past supplier of spares for it, but it's a rather old model so may not be so lucky this time, not even sure company still exists!
Nurse asked had I put on weight? Yes, but no idea how much. Dont weigh myself, just go by clothes. My treat is licking out the mixing bowl & scaper- now I can do that again- raw egg etc. Need to actually weigh myself in a couple of weeks before a phone consultation. Doing it in kilos means wont have a clue!
Been thinking about the 'beans', will start them under half cover not the greenhouse so quicker to be 'hardened off' when they've germinated. Might also do some French, I like those. J.
I did a school camp when I was 12 and my parents sent me with an old style army camp bed and wellies, the other girls laughed, it rained all week and they were not laughing as they slept in the mud.
My plants have replied, they will grow when the sun appears.
I was wondering re the hardening off too. Never had to re sow stuff before- well not this late in yr/season. That's why decided using my version of 'half cover' which is a single pane of glass, in a frame, leaning against the greenhouse on the sunny side. It used to be a double glazed unit, but the seal went & threw the other piece away last tip trip. Also should save cluttering up the greenhouse staging any more- oops really should store those cleaned pots sometime!- & will be easier to look out for germination & slug attack!
Am recovering from a shock- OH has announced that he wishes to come to Tatton show with daughter & me this year! Yikes! Daughter will not be impressed, but t'will be another pair of carrying hands...... Trouble is my spending will be curtailed.........or not!
Will be good & not have any sponge pud- just lick the serving spoon. J.
Have you seen that advert -I think is is Sainsbur'y playing a monkees tune-it show two pre-teen boys playing -doing all the things our kids did and the end bit is camping in the garden and the last bit is going indoors cos they have had enough?
So yes done that, the kids have done that-it seems a great idea and as parents you go out to say goodnight and are you all right- which is the cue for them to say no and can we come in
Hmm, if they have to dig up my garden....... I have yet to find ANY workmen that in doing one job dont create another for somebody else in the process!!
Spare, new Magimix bowl for our aged machine now being ordered- whoopee, spares still available. We think daughter was small, ie 20+yrs ago when we got it. OH remembers lifting her up to press the button. No grumbles there then, oldie but goodie. (Quite glad really as new machine bigger, so would be less room on worktop, plus all those attachments probably wont fit the new ones- that's good company still going)

The "funniest "clip was saying someone had offered their drive for parking-somehow I doubt that is for free

Haven't sent for car tax yet- that can wait for a week-they are not having my money yet!!
I think if you eat syrup sponge pudding weight will not be an issue
I went to Scotland on a scout camp-no wellies but it was very very cold-don't think I could do camping now.
Question -why do celebs think teeth whitening is such a good idea-Stacey Solomon was on this morning-had to wear dark glasses-it is not a natural look
I think they are told to do it, I think if I saw myself on tv I would be the one wearing dark glasses.
Did you do that thing as a kid where you camp in the garden and give up only to discover it is only 9pm

Did you ever catch tadpoles?
OMG now OH doing something with internet provider........something about 'not costing us any more' oh yes, heard that one before........ J.
Remember going tadpole fishing and my little brother throwing a strop because 'the tadpoles won't swim into my net!'
