Can you just do one more check-that would be helpful
I think the police and the portaloo thing is a bit of a red herring-ever few years they skip a year and then demand increases for the following year-a bit of a marketing strategy in my opinion
A bean has popped though the soil more than 2 weeks after sowing-that shows how much the ground temperature has gone down- the first lot were through within a few days-we do need a long warm sunny spell-who do I write to?
I have been to visit the nursery featured in last weeks GW, I found it quite quickly lots of signs for bedding/ hanging baskets on the road. Not what I was expecting, lots of bedding plants for sale. I bought 2 peppers as mine are only 2 inches high and a couple of cuphea plants. As I went to pay the sign behind the till said Leafy Oak nursery So I drove around a bit until I saw a couple of ladies and they directed me to it, I drove past it twice(no signs) and it is a proper perennial nursery, there were some nice plants but I was not tempted, quite small I am surprised that they exhibit..
Nurse has been & gone. OH snoring in the chair- nothing new there then.
What Kate, not buying plants?
Am cold, this wet weather not fun. Wonder if any hope for my direct sown beans then? Shant bank on them appearing & surviving the slugs thogh. Have already made a note to start off some more, in pots in greenhouse, which has door open 24hrs now, & fish out my copper strips from the box in shed.
BTW any way to get to the 'end' of this thread without all the palaver of jumpimg through all the messages? J.
Horribly windy here, I have a feeling that the party tent may have taken off and left the garden of its own accord - it has to go to the fete tomorrow so we didn't bother packing it all away.
I might attempt to sow some carrots but I never seem to have much success with them. My beans are struggling to get up the poles, normally they shoot away.
My friend on the IOW says its a disaster there and don't go under any circumstances - the festival fields are totally waterlogged. People are being told to leave their cars in Portsmouth - not sure where exactly!
I think Glastonbury was cancelled this year because the Queen had organised a party and the dates clashed.....
Jo-click on first unread post at the top of the page-doesn't always work though-have scattered more slug pellets around my emerging beans-I hope they are hungry
Runner beans slow as well Lottie
Kate -was that Daisy Cottage?-they probably needed the publicity by the sound of it.
The washing is on a yo-yo-wind and rain and sunshine
Have just watched local news-some people have been their cars for 24 hours-the site is ankle deep in mud- the tent pegs won't stay in and just to ice the the cake it is going to chuck it down on Saturday night.

Jo I just hit the REPLY button
I thought 5 plants today was enough, if I had found her nursery first it would have been different.

The wind is mad here, so glad I pruned neighbours trellis. Lottie it may not me your lucky day.

On a positive note mud is good for the complexion
