There's a new thread where someone was asking about forming a general chat thread (for new people).

There have been other non-gardening threads, besides Forkers.

We used to talk about what's for dinner on here. Then someone started an offshoot 'Whats For Tea'. That thread ran for 10 weeks, 16 pages, and 300-odd posts, before the enthousiasm for it seems to have petered out.

And who can fail to forget the thread 'Am I Posting Too Much'. image

It's good to see the regulars posting as well as the new guys. So many experiences, attitudes and viewpoints and a wealth of advice to heed or not. It's getting to be a habit logging in.

That thread ran to 9 pages, and 166 messages before that petered out.

And there are plenty of threads where people go off topic, and start chatting about other things. But none of them survive long. Forkers is the survivor.

To be sustainable, a thread does need a nucleus of hard-core posters.

  • Gary! Had to do a second look then! Thought that said "Hardcore Pornstars"

Yo Deano!  Happy Weekend everyone image  Hope the weather stays like this while OH is around to move some bags of compost and pots and other jobs I've got lined up for him.  May even sow some seeds image.   Hope you're all in full gardening swing too (and Figrat's lurgy goes quickly).

Good point Gary-well made-and no smut or reference to womans problems

There was a  pre-courser and then parallel to this thread May,June,July in your Garden but that ran out of steam as well when it got to August and the platitudes ran out and people drifted way-remember Wintersong,gardenfantic-though the latter reappeared again recently

Back from dentist, tongue now come too so that I can speak properly again.

OH trying to get some travel insurance so that he can come to Madrid with me in a couple of weeks, but no-one will play. Think it might be undiagnosed condition that could be the problem or else there is just too much wrong with him. Any suggestions apart from go on my own?

Jo, Harlow Carr Betty's normalyl OK at the end of the afternoon on a Saturday. We go for a wander around the garden, into the GC and then into the cafe. We have full afternoon tea vouchers.imageimage

    You swanning off again Glyn?

Take me instead or surely an insurance company will take any risk at a price-there are specialist companies that deal with unusual circumstances eg Saga for the oldies

Without being too personal-what is the problem?
