I used to order from T&M, but they're so pricey now and give so little info on the seeds they sell (height is often not mentioned). So this year I ordered from Mr F.

Much cheaper and I had about 20 packs of seed from petunias to nigella. The only ones I had a problem with were runner beans (White Lady) - out of 45 sown 11 germinated. Runners are usually so easy and I expect near 100% germination.

Fortunately last years beans re-grew (whith amazing vigour) and took up the empty spaces

Very poor germination from Mr Fothergill this year. Of five (expensive) cucumber seeds two germinated; Sugar snap peas: less than 25%! Other seeds disappointing. They also make D.T. Brown and Johnsons so I'll be thinking twice about using them, too.

Worst aspect: two complaints to the firm... not even a reply!

I am fairly new to gardening but I got some seeds off ebay, premier seeds direct iirc and everything has germinated. any that failed I think were down to me not watering or over watering.

way cheaper than the e3stablished names that people seem to have trouble with

  • Have had very hit and miss results with germination this year could it be that light levels have been up and down or maybe too many seed merchants use the same supplier as you say Tommy

But I've only usedfothergills for herbs
