Any help in whats causing this
I have a Lamium orvala in the garden plus a Lemon Balm I believe and a Acanthus Spinosus l.
They were planted I think last year and they have been fine but this year something is eating them. Two other plants have completely gone but these show damage but haven't died yet.
I am a bit of a novice so wondered if someone could help identify what is causing this. There does seem to be a few ants about but I checked under the leaves and found no aphids or anything. So I am thinking either ants or slugs/ snail.
Here are a few pictures of the Lamium and one of the Lemon Balm I believe.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

This year, almost everything in my garden has holes in the leaves. I found it was a little very shiny green beetle, , they go for sorrel first then they dont mind what they have, lupins, delphs, etc, I found out from last years chewings that they dont seem to last long and the new leaves grow up ok, so you can cut the chewed leaves off.
It could, on the other hand be slugs, have a look closly and see what you can find.
If its slugs, a tiny few pellets will suffice, you only need about 6.
I cringe when I see half a potful put down.
Now you mention it I think I did see a shiny green beetle around the base.
With slugs do you know if the cooper rings actually work. They seem a good idea and are not harmful.
