The square stems are very distinctive, so it's not stitchwort, or chickweed.

I reckon it is a white version of Claytonia sibirica.  I have pink Claytonia in my garden and it is very pretty but seeds around a lot.  I believe it is rich in Vitamin C and is why it was called miner's lettuce.  The leaves are quite succulent.

    Do you live in Cornwall?

  • Hi All. Penylan I live in Scotland. Whilst we are not on the sea we are very close to the Gare Loch with is a part of the Clyde. I will try take some better photo's next time I am in my friends Garden.

  • @ Penylan Sue ... looking at some photo's of <span style="background-color: #eeeeee; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px;">Claytonia sibirica I think you may be right. This is certainly the closest I have seen yet.

AHA!  The Stewarton Flower.  Usually pink so the common name is Pink Purslane, but white in n. Ayrshire.
