uploading images

I know this isn't a new subject or thread, BUT it IS like many weeds, a PERENNIAL ! Somehow, I managed to upload a piccy for my site thingy, but to upload an image, from the desktop on the flaptop computer, is proving well nigh impossible, with my limited skills. Can ANYONE out there, explain in plain and simple language, how to upload images to the forum site. I am wary of smilies icons, I have heard about a 'tree', and click the click, but I cannot find them . Computer speak with dialogue tongue. Simple answers please.

There is a line of small pictures at the top of the Message writing area. The last one on the right is a large blue pair of quotation marks. To the left of that is a Green one, some say a tree, it looks more like a cup to me though. Place the arrow of your mouse on it and it changes colour. The words Insert an Image or Video appear. Press the left hand button on your mouse.

You should then get a new screen. Put your mouse arrow over the word Select and press the left hand button on your mouse.

That should take you to your Laptop. You then need to find the picture you wish to Upload in your machine.

Position your mouse pointer over the picture and 'Click'. It should change colour.

Find the word Open at the bottom of the screen and 'Click' on it.

This takes you back to this site.

Find the word Upload and 'Click' on that.

Then wait, it does take a little time to load the picture.

Then finally Click on the word Save and hopefully that has worked for you.

Here are some images I snagged from the screen which may help:

Use the left mouse button to click on the ones circled in red.

Still baffled, guys. I know all about the uploading them on to or in to regular e-mails, but it is getting stuff on to / in to stuff / entries for this forum !

Y'see, writing this out is Ok, but there's nowt like wot you are explaining. I get no trees, cups, smilies, select image, no line of stuff for instructions, text, alignment, whatever. No green trees, blue skies or polka dot gurning faces.

    I am truly flummoxed.

..sounds as though your settings are not set correctly.... click on your avatar and go to 'my settings'... then 'forum settings'...look to see if 'forum editor' is on 'advanced'... it might be on 'basic'...   put it on 'advanced' and click 'save changes'...

...I don't know if this will help but it might...

yes that;'s it Salinero, just changed my settings to basic and the editing box has gawn. So just change your forum editor settings to advanced and you will see what we have all been blathering on about! image

Flumoxed most of us cos advanced was certainly the default when I joined, so I wasn't even aware it could be changed!

Just trying it to see if it works. Not sure it has. There is only an icon. You should be getting a pic of one of the Indian Azaleas in my Brazilian garden.

It works this end - beautiful pink azelea, behind it a high wall or hedge, a pine tree and a wonderfully deep blue sky image

After much ado and kerfuffle, the icons came up on their own accord ! image

The sun is shining, and I am best pleased.
