I have heavy clay soil so I grow them in pots and those sown this year will be flowering well next year and also as they are in pots I can put them in the shed in winter.

Like Rose, i keep them in pots for the first year so i can keep an eye on them.  But i would not keep them in the GH  - harden them off and then keep them outside for the summer - and bring them back in when the frosts start this autumn.
