I found this little fella growing in my gutter and thought it was pretty. Could be weed for all I know. However a few weeks ago it was about 2 inches tall growing in less soil than you could hold in one hand.
I admired it strength in surviving such poor conditions, so decided to give it a little pot full of good compost, and off it went. grow grow grow! in only a few weeks it has filled a 6 inch pot with roots and looks very health.
As it was so high up and there were a few large conifers in neighboring gardens, I thought it maybe a tree of some sort but not sure.

Possibly a Nigella, deposited there by a bird? http://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/106195/Love-in-a-mist-Miss-Jekyll-Alba/Details
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I think you'll know soon. Almost certainly an annual and coming up to flower.
In the sticks near Peterborough
looks like love in the mist or a fennel, looks heathly what ever it is.
thanks, sounds like I will know soon enough once it flowers. I'll post an update once it does. Potted it up today, so has plenty of room to grow.
