We have had Great Tits nesting in one of two nestboxes I made, every year except one for the 11 years we have been at this house. We also have quite regular visits from a Sparrowhawk, in fact I got as close as two feet away from him when he was on our fence, before he dropped down into next doors garden - and then continued to stare me out from between the hedge!!. The G.T`s also use either box as a roost over winter. It is brilliant to watch them working so hard when building the nest up and see the fledglings go. After being sure that neither box is being used after fledging, I take them down and give them a good scalding with hot water, and a bit of disinfectant. Let them dry thoroughly and put them back up ready for winter.
