Speadfing graniums

I live on what is reclaimed wood/pastrureland and I have problem with a weed that seems to resemble the native  geranium, with pink flowers. I,ve tried digging it out but it is impossible to get every bit of root and even comes back after being dreched with glyphasate.  Can anybody tell what exactly I'm dealing with, and how to get rid of it as wish to lay a thyme lawn in part of the area which is being invaded.  Thanks.

It is probably "Herb Robert" a wild geranium. Has it a strong smell? It is difficult to get rid of and readily seeds itself. Fairly resistant to glyphosate, I've found. You will have to be persistent, weeding and spraying.

I think you'll need to give a bit more of a description or better still a photo.

Herb Robert, Geranium robertianum is an annual and easy to pull out

Sorry nut have to disagree with you there.  It's almost certainly Herb Robert, and it can be difficult to eradicate permanently, the roots can go a long way down and across, and although they're quite thin they are tough.  I garden on heavy clay and often find the roots snap off, and then the plants come back.  Echoing Busy-Lizzie, you just have to keep pulling it up, especially when it flowers, and eventually you will get there.  I've made a lot of progress with it in the last two years.

Quite like them myself, in limited places. Pretty flwers and nice red stems, pity they stink when you remove them.

How can you lie there and think of England
