Name that shrub
Would anyone be so kind as to tell me the name of the prickly shrub which has hawthorn like small white flowers in May?

I have seen this shrub a few times now particularly used as a low hedge overlooking a garden wall.
So, is it evergreen?
Try googling pyracantha for a start.

Berberis is a good hedging shrub with barbs, it is reddish in colour and yellow flowers in spring.
