getting rid of tree stumps
Hi. Can anyone give me any advice on speeding up the process of ridding my garden of tree stumps please?

Hi Angie
Get a stump grinder in and demolish them
In the sticks near Peterborough
AngieD nuts right we did it and they are not expensive and do a nice clean job.
Thank you both. I didn't even know there was such a thing!
yes if you have trees cut down the stump grinder usually follows and removes the stump.
if they're old stumps then drill big holes in the top, get some liquid BBQ lighter fluid (the gloopy stuff not the stuff that's like water), fill the holes, light and stand back and wait, alternatively a small fire on top would speed things along.
if they're green/fresh cut however that technique will not work. unless they're conifers in which case it will - a leylandii hedge at the bottom of my brothers garden got this treatment last year and its now a nice border!
if they're green/fresh (and not conifers) then drill holes and plug them with oyster or shiitake mushroom spore plugs, mushrooms for the next few years and the stump should be gone in five!
Well thank you. I'm impressed! I have some green and some older and I love the idea of plugging the green ones with mushroom spores and making a feature of them while they die back!
