Non-sprouting purple broccoli

About 1/3 of my Claret F1 broccoli plants have not produced any sprouts. Is it worth waiting, can I do anything to promote sprouts or should I just pull them up? Space is limited so I don't want to waste it to no avail!

Try cutting the central shoot out - that should trigger the development of the sideshoots.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
