Hi,
I was hoping that someone could help me out with the identification of this 'plant', I have been told that it is Japanese knotweed but I am not too sure. Hope someone can help me with this question.

It is definitely not Japanese Knot Weed, but I don't know what it is. Epimedium springs to mind
Snap, Fleurisa. Epimedium has those mottled leaves. Jap Knotweed has really thick stems at this time of year and would be several feet high by now.
