Buddleja failing to thrive

I wondered if anyone would know what is going on with my buddleja.  I planted it back in March and thought it would have taken off by now, but it seems to be struggling.

It is in a sunny free draining spot, but it looks like some of the new growth is turning brown, is something eating it ?

It kind of looks healthy enough, it is just the brown ends to the new growth that has got me thinking something is stumping its growth.

Can't seem to get the photo's to rotate round, seem to be the right way on the laptop.

It could be some kind of caterpillar, I'd pinch out the damaged tips, which should remove the pest and encourage your plant to grow side shoots. Otherwise it looks fine
