dropping pears

I have had my conference pear tree for 4 years. Every year it has had masses of blossom followed by baby pears. Once they have formed they start to drop. The first year there was nothing, the second year I had 3 pears about one and a half inch long and last year I got 6..I am very much an amateur gardener and would like some advice about this. Can anyone help?
