Leech looking thing in pond

Hi, i found a leech in my pond, at least, it looked like a leech.
I wad wondering it it would be harmful to my goldfish?
Unfortunately i havent managed to get a pic, will try tomorrow if i can find it.

Leeches are common in most ponds and freshwater. Most feed on pond debris and few are parasitic. There is chemical control available, however unless they become a serious problem, which is unlikely in a well balanced pond, I would leave well alone.
Great, thanks Dave, i cleaned out the filter and put it back in the pond anyway.
