Suffering Staghorn Sumac

Our lovely sumac (I think that what it is) has suddenly wilted after more than 5 years succesful growth.
We pruned it as usual removing the lower branches and controlling the rapid growth. However last month it sprouted a few leaves and they wilted this is also happening near the base. There are a few sprouts that look ok but not the usual fullness.
Will it survive another cut back? Or Is it on it's way out? I have added pictures... Is it wilt?

I have a similar problem there are no new leaves on my tree yet and I would have thought that by now there would be! there are some small nodules (see pic) and I don't know whether these will eventually grow or not.
I pruned it back now. They were all shrivelled. Not too sure if it will survive it must be too much rain in the winter. The shoots at the base are slowly perking up but not as fast as before.
fingers crossed it copes and I hope yours gets a few shoots soon. Thanks for responding too I am glad it not just me....
