Help with overgrown Garden

Hi all, I need help with how to start with an overgrown garden. What do I do after chopping down all the weeds, ivy and nettles so they dont cone back. I want to have a nice lawn instead but have no experience in gardening. thanks, Dave

Can you post a few pics of your garden so we can get some idea of your options. To post a pic on here click on the green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your posts, and follow the instructions. Unfortunately it doesn't work for phones .... yet
