Sorry - another question. Now i have come to take a whole lot of these from a neighbours garden, they have a massive root that kind of goes along the ground rather than into it.
They pull up easily with this attached. Do i need to plant with this whole root underground, or shorten it?
I usually shorten it. I have lots and can afford to pick the best so I look for pieces that have a bit of fine root, however small, and cut off beyond that. Sounds like you've got plenty to do that as well. They are very successful at growing from that.

Nutcutlet is right. Great for ground cover but easily pulled up.
I've got 3 colours, all lovely

Yes does smell. Looks like Cranesbill bevans variety is the common name. Semi evergreen and mat forming, so sounds like a useful plant.

Brilliant. Thanks for speedy response.
This wet year is very good for getting plants established. No danger of drying out
