Uff Pulling nails! If I have a longish nail to remove, I get it started with my claw hammer but, before the nail starts to bend over and distort the hole, I move the hammer gradually up the steps until I can remove it cleanly. Any reasonably good nails are saved. Murphy's Law dictates that, on a Sunday afternoon when I need a nail/screw etc., I'd probably not have one and the nearest shop is 8 miles away.
