Aster's being eaten?

Hi,

I just bought and planted a bunch of Aster Little Beauty plants - they seem to be being eaten by something but I can't figure out what it is?  It's not slugs as there is not the usual signs for them.  Can anybody help and advise how I can save my new plants.........they are looking very poorly!
