spring bulb crisis!

Can anyone help to stop it happening next spring ? All the buds were attacked by some insect, and I don't think anything escaped !

    Which bulbs did you grow?

I find that slugs seem to go for tulips ,daffodils-could that have been the cause?

Do you take any precautions for slug/snail attack?

There is a narcissus fly but that does the damage after flowering-not sure that many insects go for spring flowers to the point of eating them

Slugs are the only things that have damaged my bulbs, except for yellow crocus when it has been squirrels.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
