Is it ok to move an azalea now ?

I have two small ish azalea's that I'd like to move into a gap.  They are just finishing flowering now.

Will they survive a move ? They are currently getting smothered by a rhodo, so would like to give them room to spread out a bit.

Any advice ?

  • the general rule is that you move anything whilst they are dormant.

i wouldnt have thought its the best time now, although with a large enough root ball and plenty of water it can be done, just not ideally.

ah okay that makes sense, I was getting confused with pruning which general rule is after flowering.  Will make a note in my calendar to move it later winter / early spring next year.

oh yeah, my garden ideas can move forward then... will try it on thursday.  first off I've got to climb in the middle of the surround rhodo's.  imageimageimage
