Peach leaf Curl
in Fruit & veg
Totally demoralised - I have tried all the natural and chemical plus alternative treatments known to man, and I've still got peach leaf curl this year! However I have many peaches that seem to have set successfully. Should I just keep my fingers crossed or should I spray the tree with yet another product? Actually I am beginning to think that perhaps I should not do anything at all next year as if you think about it, in the wild peaches thrive with no leaf curl and plenty of fruit. Any brain waves??

Thanks Verdun for sound advice, certainly can't say we haven't had any rain!! One thing that I have learnt out here is that the red vine peaches never get peach leaf curl. I was given one by a neighbour and it has moved house twice. Absolutely superb with no problems, a happy little tree and happily well away from the other one. These deep wine red peaches ripen much later than others and end up nice and sweet, they are primarily used out here to make jam. I think that you can get them in the UK now.
Well I've wrapped it up all snug and warm, but, how will insects get in to pollinate? ie - when do I risk unwrapping it again?
Was it avalon pride that has a good resistance to leaf curl? It was either Verdun or Bobthegardener that reccomended it, might be worth a try, but those vine ones sound lovely
You might have to hand pollinate ones that have been wrapped up
I keep my pygmy peach in the greenhouse all year round and pollinate it myself with a paint brush.
