New Helenium not come up...
Hi guys,
Last year I bought two heleniums, one has emerged and is about 5" high (a little chewed) but the other hasn't come up at all.
I'm in the NE but all of my HP's are showing signs of life now and I was wondering if I should dig it up and check if it looks okay.
I was thinking if it didn't come up I'd contact the sellers but I don't want to do anything to harm my chances of getting a replacement, being a first time grower of these plants
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you
Vic

Well if this is a helenium then this matter is settled
Sent an email to the company with photo and just unexpectedly received this:
They're not big on conversation but credit where it is due- they honour their warranties without question
I think they deserve to have their name mentioned
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I left the box in the pic but it's Coblands
If you cut Helenium back after the first flush of flowers you should get a second flowering. Divide the plants after October and increase your plants, slugs love them and some caterpillars will weave the leaves into nests you need keep an eye out for them.
Frank.
Thanks for the replies
Yes, I'd been watching them for slugs but was fairly certain this one hadn't come up at all and confirmed it when I dug it up and the rootball fell apart. The other one has been chewed upon but has started to push past it now after a few dry days.
Ive got my eye on Potters Wheel but only if I can grow these two successfully
Thanks for the info ref cutting back, Palaisglide- I will try it all being well
