Ground cover plants

Hi, I'm not the best when it comes to gardening so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for fast growing and extensive ground cover plants. I'm not sure what kind of soil it is. Sun exposure most of the day, very exposed area. i remember having a yellow flowered plant which 'took over' a small rockery But can't remember the name of it.

Good morning and thank you for your swift reply. Thats great advice and I can now go and buy whats needed as soon as I have all the weeds taken out. My aim is to concentrate on the garden this year so I will certainly be needing lots of advice from all the keen knowledgeable gardeners out there. Your advice is very much appreciated. image

Alyssum saxatile cold be your rampant rockery plant. Sage makes good ground cover in sunny, exposed areas and can cover quite an area in a couple of years........look for the purple or variegated forms.

I love veronica Georgia blue.  Small intense blue flowers in early spring.
