Propagation of Campanula Portenschlagiana
The RHS website says that I can do this by seed or basal cutting. Bearing in mind that this is the first time I will have attempted propagation, could someone tell me exactly how to do it please? Do I just take a 3" cutting of new growth and put it in a small pot? I'd like to do it from a cutting rather than from seed.

I'd pull some off right to the bottom, you might even get some root with it.

Right, thanks nutcutlet. I understand ... and then if I have some root, it's easier to get established. I'll have a good look around at the bottom.
If you get a bit of root you've got a plant already, just pot it up and look after it

I did this a few weeks ago. I got one bigger bit with a little root and five or six basal cuttings. They went in a bag for a week or so, but now they're out of the bags and look fairly happy. No discernible new growth, but not wilting either, so fingers crossed.
And what colour is our isle (Isle of Man) Mike?
I very much intend to have a go
This is what makes this forum SO good. It gives us beginner gardeners the confidence to try our hand at new things because the support here is excellent.
I grew some last year I took 4 basal cuttings all 4 took relatively easily and I have 4 reasonable size plants to plant out this year.
Your description sounds more like this one Verdun
