Spots on Phlox.

Hello, I have 4 new phlox plants which have only been in the ground just over a week, and three of them (Laura) have developed black spots on the lower leaves. The 4th is 'White Admiral' in a different part of the garden, and seems completely unaffected.

What may be causing the spots?  And how can I resolve it?

Could over-watering cause it?

Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Caral,

Your phlox are showing signs of nutrient deficiency with yellowing and puckering of the upper leaves and the spots on the lower leaves, I don't think this fungal. And so I would use liquid seaweed extract as a quick remedy, but also something called GrowBest EM Seaweed fertilizer with added rock dust and worm casts which will provide plants with long term nutrition. http://www.shop.embiotechsolutions.co.uk/

Thanks so much Firefly2. Pleased to hear that its not fungal. I lifted them and replaced all the soil - and have used a liquid seaweed extract on them. Thanks for the link to the site - looks interesting. Just considering the cost for the 23kilo bag. image
