rose cuttings

Last autumn I took some rose cuttings from a rambler. All fine, nice roots but lately the leaves turned yellow and no more new growth. I sprinkled some organic fertilizer but nothing happened. Now I put some ordinary fertilizer but no change. What is going wrong?
