soggy lawn

I need help with my lawn, it is an a slight bank but at the top of the bank is a fence lined with conifers. The water isn't draining away and it's causing moss coverage. Would the conifers hold the water or do you think I am getting water from a third party? Nothing obvious, totally stuck

Bit more info needed.  New lawn, new house, house new to you, drainage laid underneath, wet area (rainfall), shaded or full sun?

    Sounds like a drainage problem.

  • House is around 15 years, lawn pretty much the same. As far as I know it's been a problem for at least 10 years. South facing, so quite a lot of sun, neighbours either side not having problems. No obvious drains in the garden itself. Bottom of the garden near to the house is bone dry. It's the North of England so can rain a bit but most gardens dry out pretty quickly and like I said neighbours not having the same issues.
