critters in my water butt!!
Unfortunately due to house renovation we have no lid on our water butt and today I have noticed that there are lots of tiny small reddish worm like creatures in it. I have googled midge larvae and they don't look like them. Any ideas what they are, do I need to get rid of them?

I thought they were midge larvae. Those little ones that wriggle like an S are those the ones?

I don't think they're harmful though the insect stage may bite. They breed in any water left around.
