Japanese Acer problem?
I have a Japanese Acer - it's spent 15 years potted. I moved it into its current large pot about 10 years ago. It was looking a bit sorry for itself earlier in the year - now it's suddenly sprouting strange 3 stemmed pale green leaflet clusters with what might be seeds in them? These seem to grow amongst the ordinary Acer leaves (i.e not a parasite). They are a completely different shape. What are they? Should I worry? Is my Acer stressed due to being potbound? I can't re-pot as no space for a larger pot & too heavy to lift. The pot is 17" diameter. Tree is just under 5'. Roots seems very tight.
Please advise

Is this the sort of thing your seeing?
These are the seeds of the Japanese acer.

Yes I totally agree with you Dove, they are acer seeds. I have them all over my acer this time of year - they're so pretty.
I've had one or two on my tree in the past but this year it's covered. I'm quite excited. If the seeds mature will they be fertile ie if sown will they germinate. The tree is quite mature but was not grown from a seed itself it's grafted onto a root stock. Thanks
