There's probably enough copper in the metal to deter slugs and snails so you could try Hostas or other vulnerable plants too. Lucky find, I'm so jealous star gaze lily. Please post pic of your plantings for us.
Thank you Lisa and Marinelilium, everybody has been so kind and given me lots of ideas. I think I would like my hostas in there, as your right the pot should keep out the slugs. A small fern would be lovely too. Not sure what else at the moment, but would like the bacopa that yarrow suggested to trail over part of the side and something tall at the back, but not sure what would go with the hosta, but something with flowers. Any ideas Lisa as you suggested ferns
Sorry Lisa and Marinelilium, but I love it so not parting with it for a very long time!! But its lovely that other people like it too. My sister thought it was horrible. Couldn't believe it when I found it covered in mud at the bottom of my sisters garden. Think she thought I'd gone bonkers when I got so excited lol.
Thank you again for all your suggestions. Do you think aqualiga (spelling?) would look ok in the pot with fern and hosta?

Aqualegia would look good with hosta and fern, interesting leaf and flowers too.
