Unbelievable image I didn't get a single one right.....I'm so rubbish image

You said 4 was a Geum, so can some Geum's be a weed then?  I have just bought a Geum (not a weed), it's confusing when a plant species (is that the right word??) can have weed and non-weed varieties - most confusing for newbies image

    Geums, lots of them.

Geum is a genus. A group of species. Some wild, some cultivated forms of wild ones, some hybrids, (a cross between 2 species)

How long take that little field maple/brich seeding to grow to a tree. Is it worth keeping it?

Hi Maggie, the trees to the left of the shed are field maples, grown from seed 21 years ago.

The ones to the right are birches, a couple of years younger but might be taller.

The shed will be 6' or so to the eaves so maybe 20' for the trees. Big enough to sit in the shade of for several years now

  • Thanks nutcutlet for sharing your photos. Your garden looks like a park to me. I got the idea now, I am not sure I have the patient to waiting for the tree.image
