Mexican Orange Blossom - is it ok?

smck75smck75 Posts: 21

Hi there,

This evergreen Mexican Orange blossom was planted around last summer in a west facing garden.  Noticed over the last month that it's starting to go brown on the right side but not the left - as shown on the picture.

Any idea why this is happening :/

Thanks

    Is that Choisya?

Has it caught a frost or a cold wind on new growth?

    In the sticks near Peterborough

Yh, Choisya ternata.  I'm not too sure.   Everything around it (same side of the garden) all seem to be fine i.e. camelias, clematis, roses :/

It can get a little wet here - and I've been probably being watering it in ignorance recently.  I'm in Central Scotland so it doesn't get an abundance of direct sunlight, as you can imagine.

Any advice with what I should do with now?...apart from laying off the watering!

I'm in central Scotland too smck75 and I also have one of these. Looks like it could be a bit waterlogged. Mine's in a raised bed with lots of grit mixed in with the compost and soil. It only went in last summer and was only watered when it was planted and once or twice since then - even in the dry conditions of last summer. Mine has grown quite a bit.  I think I'd cut out the dead bits and either lift  and relocate it or improve the soil it's sitting in and see if that helps. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
