ID if poss please

 not very good at this uploading, but this is a tree/shrub i trimmed very lightly 6 weeks ago as it looked dead as a dodo, now its trying so as you can see the actual plant needs getting back in shapre,can i cutback to get more shoots lower on is it to late or maybe a cutting ?? any help pleaseimage

    maybe a smoke bush,  Cotinus coggygria....

    good on ya Bob ,how do you do it,and many thanks Pete8 i may have to wait till it blooms ,iv traced your smoke bush and it could be a yes so i might have to wait til June to see if it flowers, many thanks for that folks nice oneimage
